On the Hoogeveenseweg (N374) near Tiendeveen, a delivery van crashed into a tree just after half past five on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services are on site, including a trauma team.
Nothing is known about the cause of the collision. Other road users may have been involved in the accident. Bystanders report that it concerns a car belonging to a meal delivery company from Hoogeveen.
The road is temporarily closed in both directions.
