Car badly damaged by fire in Assen

A car caught fire in Assen last night. That happened on the Hunsingostraat, in the Baggelhuizen district.

The fire started around midnight. Firefighters were unable to prevent the car from being badly damaged. The front of the vehicle in particular is blackened, as can be seen in the photos.

The provincial capital of Drenthe has been ravaged by car fires for some time. At the beginning of this month, a car in Zewind Street went up in flames. In September, Vredeveldseweg and Lindelaan were still hit.

The police recently reported that a total of ten suspects have been arrested in the investigation into the continuous series of car fires in Assen. They are said to be involved in five arson attacks.

An investigation is required to determine whether last night’s fire was also set.
