Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta retired from the background of the Jokers this year.
The latest financial statements of the nickel company Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta oy, which financed the jokers from the summer of 2019 until the middle of this year, show how the company gave up huge money last year due to the KHL reel of the Jokers.
Recently published papers show that in 2021, Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta wrote down a EUR 9 million subordinated loan to Jokers.
That nine million euros went from the account of the Russian-owned nickel company first to Jack Promotions oy and from there to the Joker’s wafer business.
A capital loan is, as the name implies, a loan. The write-down means that Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta does not expect to receive a refund.

Tens of millions
Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta’s result as the financier of the Jokers was announced in the summer of 2019.
The financial statements for 2019, 2020 and 2021 show that the company wrote down a total of EUR 36.364 million spent on Jokers in three years.
The amount in 2020 was 13.1 million and the amount in 2019 was 14.264 million.
The amount for 2019 includes a pot of EUR 4.064 million, which the company paid according to IL’s report Hjallis to Harkimo Joker shares.
Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta withdrew from the background of the Jokers this year after the puck team left KHL due to the war started by Russia in Ukraine.
Poor results
Compared to the size of the business, the money that Norilsk Nickel accuses Harjavalta of hockey is a little overwhelmed. The company’s turnover in 2021 was more than 1.2 billion euros. Turnover is the sum of the goods and services sold by the company.
However, the company’s operating profit was only EUR 19 million, ie the written-down Jokerit loan accounted for almost half of the operating profit.
After the nine million and other financial income and expenses received by the jokers, the company’s profit before taxes was only just over EUR 12 million.
The main owner of the Norilsk Nickel Group is the Russian oligarch Vladimir Potanin.
