Thanks to financial support from the state, this offers Student Union Schleswig-Holstein In its canteens in Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Heide, the new “Schleswig-Holstein-Teller” will be available every day from Monday, October 2nd, 2023 at a low student price.
“It was important to us that students receive financial help in view of the rising food and energy costs,” explains university catering manager Meike Gallert. “That’s why we took a strong stance at the political level.” The result: the state government made additional funds available to relieve the burden on students.
The money initially flows into the daily changing scheme for one year “Schleswig-Holstein plate”. For only 2.50 euros There is a wholesome warm main course, mostly vegan or vegetarian. Once a week the plate contains meat or fish. The offer, which is identified with a special logo in the menu and in the cafeteria edition, applies exclusively to students.
Anna-Maria Czelk and Lasse Böttger from General Student Committee (AStA) of the TH Lübeck welcome the offer: “We think the idea is very good. The students are currently dependent on every subsidy they can get,” says Anna-Maria Czelk. Lasse Böttger believes: “Especially in times when the costs of housing and living expenses have risen immensely, we need such offers.”
“Despite our efforts, such as recipe adjustments, replacing individual dishes and developing new recipes, we were not able to completely prevent inflation-related price increases in our canteens,” explains Meike Gallert. The “Schleswig-Holstein-Teller” offers students a cheap lunch every day at a reliable retail price, regardless of potential further increases.
