The American team is instead present with Todd Haynes (May Decemberwith Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman) e Wes Andersonwhose latest effort is called Asteroid City. Out of competition there are also Killers of the Flower Moon Of Martin Scorsese (which Thierry would like to move to the Competition, we’ll see) e THEndian Jones and the Quadrant of Destiny by James Mangold (with Harrison Ford restored to his youth).

Lots of curiosity about Jude Law and Alicia Vikander – Couple of Firebrandfilm (always in competition) by Karim Ainouz (Brazilian director): Psychological horror set in the Tudor era and with a focus on Katherine Parr, sixth wife of Henry VIII. And also for The Zone of interest Of Jonathan Glazer (English director who has never been to Cannes; his last film – Under the skin with Scarlett Johansson, in competition at Venice in 2010 – was overwhelmed by boos, only to end up in the Best Film of the year rankings). Based freely on the book of the same name by Martin Amis, The Zone of interest tells of a Nazi officer who falls in love with the woman of the commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
He will also be on the red carpet Pedro Almodóvar with Strange Way of Lifealong with its two stars Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal. A medium-length film screened in official selection and second work in English by the Spanish director. The story is that of a gay love on a western set. Among the producers also Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello.
