Cannes 2022: all the films in competition at the Festival

D.After weeks of speculation on titles and appearances, this morning it was finally revealed the complete program of the Cannes Film Festival 2022 which, after last year’s edition in July, returns in May: from 17 to 28.

In addition to the already announced Top Gun: Maverick and Elvis by Baz Luhrmann, on the Croisette directors of the caliber of David Cronenberg will returnthe Dardenne brothers and, surprisingly, also two Italians in competition: Mario Martone with his Nostalgiaplayed by Pierfrancesco Favino, and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi who chose ex-partner Louis Garrel as the protagonist of the film Les Amandiers.

However, some of the most anticipated Italian titles of the year are missingsuch as Bones & All by Luca Guadagnino e The envol by Pietro Marcello while the long-awaited, and trumpeted, “hypothetical” new film by David Lynch. Actually busy on the set of one top secret tv series by title Wysteria.

Only three women instead in the official competition: in addition to Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, they will also compete for the Palme d’Or Claire Denis with his Stars at Noon and the American Kelly Reichardt who directed his muse for the fourth time Michelle Williams in the movie Showing Up.
