A woman was seriously injured in an apartment fire in Gesundbrunnen late Wednesday evening.
Around 10:30 p.m., residents noticed the smell of burning in an apartment building on Bastianstrasse and called the Berlin fire brigade, which put out the fire on the second floor of the apartment building.
The 66-year-old apartment tenant suffered severe burns in the fire and was taken to the hospital. They say a fallen candle started the fire.
For the duration of the extinguishing work, Bastianstrasse between Badstrasse and Böttgerstrasse was completely closed for around two hours.
