Presidential candidate Bernd Neuendorf is calling for a “cultural change” in the German Football Association (DFB).
“There must be clear atmospheric changes in the DFB and thus in football as a whole. Working together is of central importance,” said the President of the Middle Rhine Football Association to the Generalanzeiger: “In my view, there is now a new one, also through personnel changes create a relationship of trust.”
The DFB is “a great association that does a lot for the development of football and society as a whole,” emphasized Neuendorf: “Unfortunately, this importance has recently receded into the background. I therefore see my candidacy as an offer for a calm and objective work.”
Neuendorf made it clear that “if I am elected, central positions will be filled.” Most recently, he confirmed that he wanted to keep Heike Ullrich as Secretary General. The treasurer position will be filled, and there should also be “a new position in the presidency that is responsible for the issues of diversity and equality,” said the 60-year-old.
Amateur representative Neuendorf will compete on March 11 at the DFB Bundestag against the incumbent co-interim president Peter Peters (59). The office of President is “a wonderful task and a great opportunity to change things and move things in the right direction,” said Neuendorf, announcing: “Football must come back into focus.”
