The coalition parties of the municipality of Leudal have nominated four candidate aldermen, they said on Friday. Half of the aldermen make way for newcomers.
It concerns new aldermen Huub van Helden (CDA) and Heleen Wijers-Van der Linden (Samen Verder). Robert Martens (D66) and Michel Graef (Samen Verder) will continue their work.

Still alderman
The return of D66 member Martens as alderman is striking. In March he announced that he did not want to continue his work as a councilor because the role of alderman would pass him by. He indicated that he did not want to have to check his successor.

It is unknown why Martens now takes on the role of alderman.
Widely supported agreement
Negotiations in Leudal started in April, with the aim of reaching a broad-based agreement. That is why other parties and local organizations were also given the opportunity to share their spearheads.
“We are confident that we will each be of significance for the inhabitants and the municipality of Leudal based on our own knowledge, experience and conviction,” says candidate alderman Graef. “We also hope for constructive cooperation with all parties in the city council to be able to implement the coalition agreement.”
Nomination
Together, the parties CDA, D66 and Samen Verder account for 17 of the 25 council seats. The official nomination of the four candidates will take place on Tuesday 14 June during the council meeting.
“The coalition agreement will be published in the course of next week,” said the press release of the municipality of Leudal.
