The second suspect in the fatal stabbing in Canada, 30-year-old Myles Sanderson, was arrested on Wednesday. This is reported by the Canadian police.

Sanderson and his brother Damien are suspected of stabbing to death 10 people from an Indigenous community and wounding 18 others on Sunday. Damien was found dead earlier this week.

The fugitive Sanderson was arrested in Rosthern, a town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan more than an hour’s drive from the places where the stabbing took place. “There is no longer any risk to public safety associated with this investigation,” the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.

Police had been conducting a major manhunt since Sunday and had warned people not to approach Myles Sanderson. “Myles has a long criminal record covering both individuals and property crimes,” said Deputy Commander Rhonda Blackmore of the Saskatchewan Province Police Department, where the stabbings took place. “We consider him armed and dangerous. Don’t approach him.”

The brothers’ motives are not yet known. Canadian police said on Wednesday that six of the ten dead had the same last name: Burns. It is not known whether they are related. Indigenous community leaders James Smith Cree Nation believe the stabbings may be related to drug crime.
