The Canadian clothing supplier Canada Goose Holdings Inc. now has its first production facility in Europe. The Toronto-based down jacket specialist announced on Tuesday that it had acquired the assets of Romanian textile manufacturer Paola Confectii Manufacturing.
The company has been producing knitwear for the Canadian brand for years. Canada Goose expects the “closer partnership” after the takeover to result in higher product margins and better control of supply in the future. In addition, internal production expertise will be strengthened, according to a statement. Paola Confectii will therefore remain its own operating unit and will continue to be managed by General Manager Giannino Lessi and Head of Technology Paola Zaffalon.
With the acquisition, Canada Goose wants to advance its strategic growth plan, which includes, among other things, the expansion of existing categories. Last but not least, this is intended to reduce dependence on the core business of down jackets, which is highly seasonal.
