Can Uzun is causing a stir at 1. FC Nürnberg this season – the DFB and the Turkish national team also have him on their list. A decision is still pending.
He is one of the most sought-after talents of recent years: Can Uzun. The man from Nuremberg was included in the future planning of both the German and Turkish football associations. According to Turkish media reports, Uzun will wear the Turkey jersey in the future – and would have therefore decided against a DFB future. But: The player himself has now denied this.
Uzun told the SID through his management that he would only make the decision after final discussions with his family at the weekend. At the beginning of next week he wants to make public where he sees his future.
The Internet portal “Haberturk” reported that Uzun recently met with Hamit Altintop, ex-Bayern star and board member of the Turkish Football Association, and his family was also there. According to the portal, the decision was made there.
Uzun recently left his sporting future open in an interview. “I haven’t made a decision yet,” the 18-year-old told the Mittelbayerische Zeitung recently. But there is a tendency, he added: “Ultimately I will not decide against, but for a national team and go there that my heart and my gut say is right.”
Uzun has previously played for the Turkish U17 and U18. National team director Rudi Völler and DFB managing director Andreas Rettig recently paid a visit to Uzun in Nuremberg. The highly gifted Uzun is causing a sensation in the 2nd league for the “Club” this season. He has already scored eleven goals and has attracted interest from numerous clubs. There have already been initial discussions with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.
“That’s true – but also with other teams. But nothing has happened yet, neither with Frankfurt nor elsewhere,” said Uzun. In the end, he will make his decision “from my heart. No one else really has any influence on it.” The transfer fee is around ten million euros.
