Exclusive: The European Fashion Alliance (EFA) together with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria organized the first Gran Canaria Summit in October 2022.
Various leading moderators came together to define the first actions that contribute to a shared vision and mission in creating a better and more sustainable future in the fashion industry.
During the Summit, EFA organized a series of videos featuring various panel discussions or interviews highlighting the drivers of sustainability, positive change and the emerging talent shaping the future of the fashion industry.
In this video, Leslie Holden (Digital Fashion Group) and Ann Claes (Fashion at Flanders DC) discuss how digitization represents a major opportunity for the fashion industry to become more sustainable in areas such as production, the resale market and garment narratives. Garment manufacturing in particular can be significantly digitized, as some brands are already doing with the adoption of the digital product passport. In this way, for example, waste caused by spot checks and additional travel costs can be reduced.
