About thirty activist farmers in Hilvarenbeek were treated to a pot of beer by mayor Evert Weys. This happened after they had presented a petition to the entire council of B and W. And after they had parked their tractors neatly so that the Vrijthof remained accessible.
Blocking things, Corné de Rooij, chairman of ZLTO Hart van Brabant, is going way too far. Although, together with his colleague Bart Rijnen of ZLTO De Hilver, he does want to draw attention to the nitrogen plans that they believe go way too far.
“We have submitted a petition to the council of B and W in Hilvarenbeek. There are quite a few tractors around the Vrijthof, but everyone can just go in and out,” says De Rooij. He emphasizes that it will remain a beer today before they get back on the trigger.
Protest at A58, tractors over Tilburg city ring
Earlier in the day, a number of farmers gathered in Gilze at the Midden Brabant Poort business park. From there they set out in a procession to park their tractors, after consultation with the police, on the verge next to the A58. Passing trucks greeted the protest with horns.
Later in the afternoon, the farmers drove their tractors through Tilburg, including over the Spoorlaan and the city ring. They drove slowly but as far as we know they didn’t cause any traffic jams.
