Campaign posters in Hoogeveen must make way for printed canvases

It seems to be an end to pasting campaign posters during election time in the municipality of Hoogeveen. The municipal council sees banners as the most suitable alternative to old-fashioned billboards.

An evaluation of the last elections showed that the political parties in Hoogeveen want to get rid of campaign signs. “The current campaign signs no longer seem to be of this time. They are pasted over each other and non-political expressions are often placed on the signs. During elections in which many parties participate, not all posters can always be given a place,” the council summarizes. of the mayor and aldermen objected to the current signs together.

The fact that posters are coming loose and that it is laborious to stick the posters and then remove them also contributes to the desire of politicians to choose something different at the 16 locations where the parties are allowed to promote themselves.

The municipality concludes that permanent digital signs or temporary LED screens do not provide sufficient space for every party. A large pre-printed sign on a concrete base seems more feasible. However, the municipal council’s preference is for a banner on an aluminum frame.

The advantages of the pre-printed cloths are that they are easy to replace if damaged and that the construction can also be used outside election times for other events. The frames cost 28,800 euros, the layout and delivery of canvases cost a good 12,000 euros each time. The new system comes too early for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
