Mauro German Camoranesi has always been used to grinding kilometers. «I left Argentina twice to go and negotiate with the club, everything seemed done and instead they turned to Pirlo. Too bad, it would have been a good experience ».
Would you like to coach in Italy?
“Sure, but no one has shown up yet. More than the championship, however, I am interested in the project, I would like a club where I can work well. The main task of a coach is to enhance the players you have at your disposal ».
What kind of football does Camoranesi propose?
«Basically they are for a purposeful football, but you have to know how to immerse yourself in the reality in which you find yourself and make a virtue of necessity. With money, everything is easier, but only 1% of companies can afford to spend. I aim to recover the ball in the opponent’s half to have less maneuvering and be more dangerous. It is logical that the more quality players you have the more you can vary the game. In any case, there is no single way to win: Real Madrid have won 4 Champions by proposing a different football. You can do anything with champions ».
Speaking of quality, Italy has conceded 5 goals from Germany in the Nations League: does this mean that the level is low despite the European championship won a year ago?
«In blue I see many guys who, placed in a context of order, can achieve great goals, as happened precisely at the European Championship. On an individual level I see few talented players. Just think that the team that won the championship in Italy, AC Milan, did not pass the qualifying round in the Champions League and with 30 points reach the salvation in Serie A. Italy remains competitive and exclusion from the World Cup is a fact episodic, linked to a single game. On a collective level we work, on an individual level the comparison does not always hold up: I saw the match against Argentina and the values were decidedly different ».
Di Maria could arrive from Argentina to Italy: despite his 34 years would he be the right choice for Juventus?
“I don’t like talking about players who haven’t signed yet, but I can say that for the type of game Juventus offers today, who fold and retrieve the ball and then start again, focusing a lot on the counterattack, someone like him, who starts from midfield and that he still has adequate speed for our championship, it can be a good solution. «Yes, because for what Allegri asks of his players we need players who know how to duel on the flanks, who are able to defend and attack. Apart from Cuadrado, Juve have no other players with these characteristics at the moment. Juan is the strongest winger in our league. He envies his speed, he has imagination and shooting and he knows how to cross. A winger must know how to surprise the opponent and he does it very well ».
«A lot, in a year he has done a lot, a good first season in Juventus, even if he was not so regular due to injuries, and an excellent European. But now he has to keep his expectations ».
Excluding the market, which is still in full evolution, who will be the favorite for the Scudetto?
«I say Milan, because they have a young team that has learned well to keep things simple and in any case still maintains an appeal in Europe thanks to past successes that the other teams do not have. But I don’t see such a clear gap with Inter and Juventus. It was a balanced championship and the Rossoneri Scudetto reached the end of an important journey, I believe that the Bianconeri and the Nerazzurri will leave next season to compete for the tricolor “
