Government crisis in Extremadura. The Minister of Forest Management and Rural World, Camino Limia, has presented his resignation to the president of the Regional Government of Extremadura, María Guardiola. In an urgent press conference held this afternoon, the spokesperson for the regional Executive, Victoria Bazaga, explained that the representative of Vox yesterday conveyed his intention not to continue in the exercise of his duties and requested his dismissal from Guardiola for “personal motives”. His portfolio will be occupied by Ignacio Higuero de Juanwho last August assumed the position of general director of Forest Management, Hunting and Fishing of the ministry.
Bazaga has detailed that this decision had already been addressed by the counselor with his party, which “was aware of this circumstance”. “That wish has been met,” she said. Consequently, the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) will publish the dismissal tomorrow at Limia’s own request. Likewise, a Governing Council will be convened in an extraordinary session to be able to remove Higuero from his position and, subsequently, Guardiola will appoint him as a director. Bazaga has advanced that this “will assume this new stage with the greatest vocation of public service towards all Extremadurans”.
During her speech, the spokesperson also wanted to have a few words for Limia: “We want to publicly thank the counselor for both her work in favor of the people of Extremadura during these months, and making it available to the Executive and our region for whatever is necessary“We wish her the best for the future,” she expressed.
Regarding the possible reasons for Limia’s unexpected departure, other sources have indicated to this newspaper that the national leadership of Vox in Madrid would have been in charge of giving the ‘order’ by demanding his departure from the Executive. On this issue, and questions from journalists, Bazaga has denied that there were disagreements with other members of the Governing Council. “We have no other reasons,” she stressed.
