Camera crew ambushed during recordings about… well, robberies | Abroad

The Spanish-language news channel itself did not give much publicity to it. The chief executive at Univision Chicago told local media a day after the incident, “We didn’t want to make the story about us because so many other robberies had already happened.”

On Monday morning, a reporter and cameraman were out near Wicker Park in the United States. Suddenly a black SUV and silver sedan pulled up next to them. Three masked men with guns in hand stepped out of the vehicles, police said.

The robbers demanded money from the duo, but since they didn’t have any, their camera and equipment were stolen. “The victims’ belongings were taken and the perpetrators ran off,” the police confirmed.

Victims of the robbery were two news workers, a 28-year-old and a 42-year-old man. The perpetrators are still missing. Univision wanted to report on the neighborhood after no less than eight armed robberies took place last weekend. Although it is not clear whether there is a connection between these incidents, the police are certain that two to four perpetrators were involved in each of these robberies.
