Camel Active opens its largest own monobrand store to date in Westfield Centro Oberhausen. In the future, customers will find both outdoor clothing and a new, circular pilot project by Camel Active in the 183 square meter shop area, the outdoor brand announced on Friday.
“As part of our retail expansion, we have been looking for a suitable location in the Ruhr area for some time and are pleased that we are presenting our complete range of menswear and womenswear on the ground floor of the largest shopping and leisure center in Europe in the vicinity of other fashion lifestyle brands can,” says Thomas Schilling, Camel Active Head of Retail Operations.
With the opening in the Ruhr area, the Camel Active portfolio now includes 37 stores in Germany and a further 60 stores in other European countries. The majority of retail space in Germany is operated by franchise and retail partners.
Store concept 2.0 and a circular pilot project
The store concept of the outdoor brand was refreshed for the new store. The “Destinations 2.0” concept is characterized by experiences and activities in nature, with natural materials such as maritime pine, steel and green plants creating an outdoor feeling. There are also interactive areas for exchange and lingering, information about the sustainability mission ‘make on active change’ of the brand and the networking of online and offline channels are new components of the store concept, according to Nicole van der Werff, Head of Retail Branding at Camel Active.
The already existing sustainability mission will be followed in the future by the pilot project “Old Denim. New Adventure” supported. The newly launched program offers customers the opportunity to exchange used jeans, regardless of condition or brand, for a Camel Active voucher. The brand will then return the pieces to the textile cycle, according to the announcement.
