Gerli GmbH, based in Merzalben, will produce the Camel Active brand shoe collections in the future. The textile group Bültel Worldwide Fashion GmbH & Co. KG, which holds the master license for Camel Active for the EMEA region, announced the conclusion of a corresponding license agreement on Tuesday. The previous shoe license partner HC Footwear GmbH filed for bankruptcy in May. As a result, the Bültel Group ended the cooperation in July.
Bültel Managing Director Volker Weschenfelder was delighted with the partnership that has now been agreed: “We are very happy to have found a recognized and experienced player in the international footwear business in Gerli,” he said in a statement. “We rely on a long-term partnership and the existing competence in the development and marketing of outdoor casual shoes, as Gerli has already proven very successfully for many years with the Dockers by Gerli brand.”
Ralf Grossmann, the managing partner of Gerli, also has high hopes for the cooperation: “Camel Active is one of the few real shoe brands with a clear brand statement, many loyal fans and great potential in the casual segment for women and men,” he emphasized. “With its positioning as a premium brand, Camel Active fits perfectly into our portfolio and differentiates itself from our own Dockers by Gerli brand in the consumer area. We look forward to the partnership and will do everything we can to ensure that the restart in retail from autumn/winter 2023 is successful.”
