Cambuur is fishing for the next North Holland football player with Rienstra

SC Cambuur has strengthened itself for the rest of this season with Ben Rienstra. The 32-year-old Alkmaarder is immediately entitled to play for Sunday’s game against his old club Fortuna Sittard.

Rienstra has been training in Leeuwarden since Monday. He went through Ajax’s youth academy, but made his debut in professional football for Heracles Almelo. Via PEC Zwolle, Rienstra ended up at AZ. Between 2015 and 2017 he played 51 league matches for AZ. Last summer, Rienstra left Fortuna Sittard. Since then he has been without a club.

According to technical manager Foeke Booy, Cambuur is gaining the necessary experience with Rienstra. The Leeuwarders took last place this week to FC Groningen, but are still in danger of relegation.

Cambuur now has a large delegation of players from North Holland: Robbin Ruiter, Leon Bergsma, Marco Tol, Calvin Mac-Intosch, Maxim Gullit, Mees Hoedemakers, Jamie Jacobs and Michael Breij.
