Cambodian PM defends plan to move 10,000 families from Angkor Wat

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday defended his plan to relocate thousands of families living close to the temples of Angkor Wat. In his opinion, it is a necessary “first step” in the preservation of the archaeological site, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. “In the 21st century, we must (…) take action to ensure that this spirit remains alive for thousands of years to come,” the Prime Minister said.
