Calviño hopes to reach an agreement with the carriers throughout the night

The First Vice President of the Government, Nadia Calvinohas expressed confidence that the meeting with the carrier associations settle with agreement throughout tonight in an attempt to put an end to the strike in the sector, which has been going on for eleven days.

In an interview this Thursday with the program ‘The night in 24 hours’ of Spanish Television, Calviño has defended that the Executive is dialoguing with the “appropriate interlocutors” despite the fact that the platform that called the strikes does not attend the meeting, which has already advanced that it will maintain the mobilization no matter what happens today.

“We are talking to a large group -of carrier associations- with whom we have dialogue and I trust that this will lead us to a positive solution throughout the night”, he stressed.

The also Minister of Economy has pointed out that the negotiations “are advancing”and has insisted that all the parties gathered at the table are aware “that it is urgent to end this strike” due to the problems that it is already generating in the supply chains.

Calviño has underlined that “the vast majority of workers, freelancers and companies want to work and are already working“, in front of a “minority” that is not at the table because it is not among the “legitimate representatives” of the sector.

In this regard, he recalled that the National Committee for Road Transport (CNTC) recently held elections and among its members is not the National Platform for the Defense of Transport, which has called the strikes for eleven days.

At the meeting between the Executive and the transport associations, among other measures, there is talk of a reduction in the price of professional fuel paid by this group, in line with the decisions adopted in other European countries in the face of the sharp rise in fuel prices.
