Just like the attack on the Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz in 2016 with 13 dead and many injured. big alarm!
Heavily armed police units blocked the tunnel on Grunerstraße and checked numerous drivers. Roads around the Christmas market have been closed. Entrances secured. Checks everywhere.
Nobody was arrested. Even a special commission should be established.
Fortunately, the all-clear was given around 8:50 p.m. – intensive investigations came to the conclusion that there had been no serious threat. Now the suspected abuse of emergency calls is being investigated, the police said.
It also said: “Anyone who alerts the police for pleasure, triggers police operations and unsettles people could quickly lose the fun. Abuse of emergency calls & disturbance of the public peace through threats of criminal offenses can be expensive and even end up in prison.”
