Event organizer Rob Knubben is called flat with requests from organizations that want to organize something on squares during Carnival. He hopes for the cooperation of the Limburg mayors.
He says that on Thursday morning on L1 Radio.
No one and a half meters
On Wednesday, new possible relaxations were leaked. Longer opening hours and no more 1.5 meters for catering and events. And that offers hope for Carnival, which starts on Saturday 26 February.
Limburg squares
Busy weeks are ahead for Rob Knubben, who has been active in the Limburg event organization for more than 20 years. After the announced measures were leaked on Wednesday, his phone was red hot. “Many squares in Limburg want to organize something. Do I believe in it? Sure, we’re going for it.”

Employees mayors
Knubben hopes that mayors will cooperate, for example when issuing permits. He’s hopeful. “I have the idea that mayors are now looking at how they can make something possible. A while ago it was the other way around. And in addition: if something is organised, you can also regulate things better. It is nice if it is well organised. we can contribute to that.”
Exciting
It will be exciting weeks for Knubben. “But that’s not a bad thing. Rather than being irritated about events that are not possible.” The next press conference is scheduled for Tuesday evening. Care Minister Ernst Kuijpers will then announce the relaxation. “But I can’t wait for that. It will be too late. We have to prepare for that. It is exciting, but also something positive at last.”
