The IJzerwake weekend, the radical tear-off of the IJzer pilgrimage, was given a new look this year under the heading iron meeting. The vzw IJzerwake wants to attract more visitors again, after the number of visitors have fallen in recent years. The organization said this edition has succeeded.
Tradition remained central during the annual IJzerwake in Diksmuide. The organization repeated its peace -minded message: “We do not believe in war as a solution and do not choose anywhere in international conflicts.” Both Moscow and Kiev, Israel and Hamas were criticized.
Nevertheless, the non -profit organization argues for “peace through deterrence” and asks an independent Flemish army, apart from NATO and EU. “We cannot guarantee safety without our own defense.”
In addition, there was political criticism: according to them the budget of the Arizona government can only come in order if the sub-areas become financially autonomous. “The Communautar Stagnation leads to chaos and reinforces Belgium with all its defects.”
