Both want to leave as owners: the blue subordinates the renewal to guarantees in this sense, to the Colombian, who would go away on a free transfer, there is no shortage of offers
Napoli hesitates, the decision to take is one of the most delicate and concerns the starting goalkeeper for next season. On the one hand, there is David Ospina, who has imposed himself with three different coaches despite the less broad prospects for age issues and has his contract expiring in June. On the other, the management hoped to be able to bet on Alex Meret for the immediate future, both for age and to lighten the amount of salaries, but the alternating performance and physical problems (he broke his vertebrae twice this year) forced the company to make a number of reflections. Also because the impression, never so concrete, is that this dualism cannot be prolonged any longer. Coexistence on a human level has not created friction, but on a technical level no one is willing to divide the space available. In particular, the goalkeeper of the national team, who needs continuity to confirm his status and perhaps try to improve it, also regaining the necessary confidence to express himself at the highest levels. For this reason, the talks relating to a renewal of the contract, which Meret would sign only with certain guarantees, have been stopped.
crossroads
–
In front of this crossroads, Napoli has not yet taken one of the two roads. In the meantime, however, there is no shortage of offers for Ospina. This was confirmed by Lucas Jaramillo, the Colombian’s agent, interviewed by Semana: “For now everything is the same, there are several discussions but we have to wait a little longer. David will free himself on a free transfer and it is a great advantage, he gives us the opportunity to choose and we have to make the best decision.” In the event that Meret was actually promoted, Giuntoli would have to intervene on the market to buy a second goalkeeper, whose role would clearly be framed in that of a deputy and little more. The idea at the moment would be to try to bring Luigi Sepe back to Naples, born in Torre del Greco and raised in blue – therefore functional for list matters – with a past as twelfth under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri between 2016 and 2018. It is currently owned by Parma and is on loan to Salernitana, who will be obliged to redeem it in case of salvation. It remains to be seen whether the player will then be willing to eventually accept a marginal use, considering that he is one of the protagonists of the grenade ascent.
