The head of Louis van Gaal, Johan Derksen or Pieter Cobelens like a delicious cake. Angelique Bond (29) from Breda doesn’t turn her hand around for it. Her lifelike baking even caught the attention of the television icons themselves. More than a million people saw her edible works of art in the popular program Oranjewinter. “I spend thirty hours per pie.”
The ingredient list is as impressive as the heads themselves. Five kilos of chocolate go in, ten eggs and another kilo of mix. The number of calories? “I don’t even want to know. An apartment resident who is often allowed to taste already complained that he had a thicker ass,” the baking queen laughs jokingly.
The adventure started with imitating VI legend Johan Derksen. Bond was looking for inspiration for a new cake when she put on the popular football talk show. “He has a very striking head. The mustache with a small brown spot in it, those are details that you don’t often encounter”, Angelique beams.
Soon after putting the lifelike cake online, an invitation follows in the program. Derksen joked about his head: “It is certainly mainly ordered by ladies?” The baker took Van Gaal’s head as a surprise. “That was not agreed. They only heard it shortly before the broadcast.”
“Just coat Lowietje.”
Especially the cutting in the head of Van Gaal made for hilarious television. “Let’s go through Lowietje”, laughed René van der Gijp. “This is like The Silence of the Lambs!” was shouted, referring to the horror movie. A day later, Van der Gijp joked: “That cake girl called me and wants to copy Pieter Cobelens’ head. That won’t be ready for three years!”
Bond couldn’t be told that twice. She went to work with the head of the former soldier from Roosendaal and came back. “It didn’t take three years, but three days,” she laughs. The former soldier himself said: “My ears should have gone out even further, but there was probably not enough marzipan for that.” Incidentally, entrepreneur and influencer Bas Smit turned out to be the most difficult to make, because of his smiling face.
Two appearances on the popular television program yielded her a deluge of messages. ‘Pie Girl’ is referred to as Angelique Bond in the programme’s videos. During the interview with Omroep Brabant alone, she is called a few times. “Patissiers who are happy, but also many young people and of course mainly men who are watching,” she laughs.
The cake baker is now working on Chantal Jansen’s head with a beret. The requests to make more heads are pouring in. These are mainly people from the football world. “Jan Boskamp, René van der Gijp, I still have a whole list to go,” she laughs.
