Walking through the Reitdiep area

Discover the Reitdiep area in Groningen through a special walk on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This short walking tour, led by an expert guide from Het Groninger Landschap, takes visitors past meadows and cultural-historical places in a landscape with a rich history. The Reitdiep area is home to unique meadow birds and shows a different face every season. The walk starts at the Reitdiep Visitor Center.

The walk is an excellent opportunity to learn more about this part of Groningen and is accessible free of charge to everyone.

Assen Woman & Film Film Festival

The 44th edition of the event will take place in DNK Assen until Sunday International Film Festival Assen | Woman & Film. The festival presents a diverse and balanced film program with national and international films, premieres and guest programs. There are introductions, Q&As with filmmakers, a masterclass, the IFA Perspective podcast and a festival talk show.

The festival emphasizes the female perspective and stories that question or break stereotypical sex or gender roles and patterns. There is room for emerging makers from (Northern) Netherlands, and in addition to the annual IFA Trophy, prizes are also awarded to winners of the short film competitions KersVers and Noordstars.

Beautiful films are shown every day, such as All of us are Strangers, Whisperers, Four Daughters, Melk, Portrait de la jeune fille en feu and much more. Making African jewelry

On Saturday, children can make African jewelry during a workshop in the Veenkoloniaal Museum in Veendam. Under the guidance of guest curator Odilia Okonga, children aged 8 to 12 tinker with beads, threads and more. In particular, you can gain some inspiration by viewing the exhibition 2 SPRAAK – Discovering Africa in textiles.

Bake a cake and become a seasonal favorite

Participate in the cake baking competition at Gasterij Natural Smeerling this Sunday. The restaurant is looking for a new seasonal delicacy. The winner of the cake baking competition will have the cake named after them and it will be added to this year’s spring and summer menu. The jury team, consisting of the Sodombikers cycling team, determines who the winner will be. Z

Else people who are not so gifted in the kitchen can come and taste on Sunday from 11 am. The proceeds from the sale of the cake slices go to charity, day care center Kraaiennest Vlagtwedde.

Another tip from the jury: when preparing the cake, emphasize the use of regional ingredients and keep the cake simple, pure and not too sweet.

Searching in the Noordbargerbos

Come and search on Saturday in the Noordbargerbos in Emmen. Sleuths will discover a route with the nature treasure hunt and look for natural treasures. Of course, participants are allowed to get dirty, but that is not necessary. You can register by sending an email to [email protected] . The correct starting location will be shared after registration.

The Scharrelkids activity of IVN Emmen-Coevorden can be undertaken from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and is suitable for children from 6 to 12 years old.
