Café Winket takes care of loved ones of Bruges prisoners

Some 17,000 children in our country have a parent in prison and tens of thousands more have a relative or loved one whose freedom has been taken away. The impact of this cannot be underestimated, and they want to pay extra attention to that in Bruges. From today on, the loved ones of detainees can go to Café Winket for a coffee, a listening ear, or even for a concert or children’s theatre. “We are convinced that reception centers where relatives can catch their breath, find a listening ear but where the necessary information is also available, can really make a difference in the lives of the many thousands of relatives”, concludes Olivier Forges, one of the initiators of Café Winket, who ultimately hope that this initiative will also support the opening of permanent reception centers in Belgian prisons.
