Cadillac continues to drive its plans for the 2026 Formula 1 season. The US racing team relies on an ex-Haas driver during development.

As Pietro Fittipaldi confirmed on social media, he hired Cadillac as a simulator driver.

“In the past few months we have worked together on the development of the team car for 2026, both in simulatort tests and in complete GP simulations,” wrote the 29-year-old.

It is “a privilege to be able to bring my experience into a project of this size and to be part of an iconic brand as Cadillac,” continued Fittipaldi.

Formula 1 knows Fittipaldi

The American native knows Formula 1 very well. Fittipaldi already acted as a replacement pilot near Haas in the past. After the serious accident of Romain Grosjean in 2020, the racing driver jumped in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi at short notice. There were no points in his two missions.

NULL should help with the best as possible to prepare Cadillac for introducing Formula 1. The US team will start in the premier class of motorsport from 2026.

Cadillac relies on routine in Formula 1

Cadillac is routine with his drivers: Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez have been a duo for weeks.

“The commitment of two very experienced racing drivers such as Bottas and Checo is a clear sign of our intentions,” explained team manager Graeme Lowdon in August: “You have already seen everything you need to be successful in Formula 1. But even more important is that you understand what it means to help build a team.”

The American emphasized the “leadership skills, their feedback, their instinct in racing and of course their speed”. These properties will be “invaluable for the Formula 1 newcomer if we bring this team to life”.

The long-time Indycar driver Colton Herta acts as a replacement driver. Simon Pagenaud and Charlie Eastwood take a seat in addition to Fittipaldi in the simulator.
