Cabinet wants twice as many wind farms in the North Sea: 10 gigawatts of capacity will be added by 2030 | climate

The deal is almost complete, multiple sources confirm to the AD. Ministers Rob Jetten (Climate and Energy, D66) and Mark Harbers (Infrastructure and Water Management, VVD) hope to hammer out the decision in the Council of Ministers on Friday. An additional 10 gigawatts of offshore parks will be added. That equates to 750 to 800 huge wind turbines of a height of just under 300 metres. Every extra gigawatt of power produces as much power as a million households use.
