Every Dutch region is different and has its own challenges. And regional challenges require regional solutions. The cabinet is therefore making €900 million available for new Regional Deals during this cabinet term. Before the summer, Minister Bruins Slot of the Interior and Kingdom Relations will send a letter explaining how regions can conclude a deal with the central government. She wrote this in the progress letter that was sent to the House of Representatives.

Highlights progress reporting

All thirty current Region Deals are now in the implementation phase and good results are becoming visible. Schools have been opened, houses have been made more sustainable, neighborhoods have been tackled. The general picture is that the Region Deals are a flywheel for strengthening cooperation in the region between government, business and knowledge institutions.

Minister Bruins Slot: “Every region counts. In recent months, I have visited several regions and have seen with my own eyes that Region Deals are achieving good results. At the same time, by working together we can achieve many more results. The starting point for me in the coming years is therefore that with the new Region Deals we use the strength and individuality of our regions to contribute to good living, working and living.”

Monitor Broad Prosperity

In recent years, knowledge has been gathered in various ways about broad prosperity in the regions. For example, through the Broad Prosperity Monitor. This shows that the assessment criteria should be carefully considered when awarding Regional Deals. In addition, it has become apparent, for example, that regions that invest in an appropriate cooperation structure and manage from a regional perspective can achieve results more quickly. All these learning points will be involved in shaping the Region Deals in the coming period.
