After a short break, the clothing retailer C&A is reviving a long tradition. On Wednesday, the company announced that it would open a new branch on Hamburg’s Mönckebergstrasse. C&A had already been represented in the centrally located shopping mile of the Hanseatic city for more than 100 years. However, the last branch to date was closed in spring 2022 because the building in use had to be demolished.
The clothing supplier has now announced its return: a lease for premises in the “Haus Hanse” at Mönckebergstraße 15 was signed in January, the company announced on Wednesday. Accordingly, C&A will use areas totaling 3,000 square meters, which extend “from the ground floor to the second floor”. A branch of the textile retailer Appelrath Cüpper had previously been there.
C&A also wants to use its new store concept on Mönckebergstraße, which has already been implemented in around 800 branches across Europe over the past two years. It offers “an exciting shopping experience that combines the new brand identity with better customer service,” the company explained.
Jason Morgan, Chief Operating Officer of C&A Europe, highlighted the importance of the Hanseatic city for the retailer. “The Hamburg region is a very important location in the C&A store portfolio. The 22 branches around Hamburg play an important role in our sales structure of a total of 1,300 branches in Europe,” he explained in a statement. “We are therefore very pleased that C&A is returning to Hamburg’s most popular shopping mile with its new branch concept and the associated shopping experience for our customers.”
