Release clause increased by 5 million
CA Osasuna have prematurely extended Chimy Ávila’s contract, which originally ran until 2023. The Rojillos’ most valuable striker with a market value of €9 million has signed a new contract until June 30, 2026. The 28-year-old Argentinian switched from CA San Lorenzo de Almagro to Osasuna in the summer of 2019 for a basic fee of €2.7 million, for he has scored 16 goals in 58 games to date.
As part of the contract extension, Ávila’s release clause was raised from €25m to €30m. The attacker also secured part of his economic transfer rights for himself, so that he would earn money from the transfer if there was a change. Ávila quickly attracted attention in the Osasuna dress. After just six months, FC Barcelona showed interest in the striker before tearing his cruciate ligament in January and September 2020. In the current season, Ávila won back a regular place at Osasuna.
