C&A agrees partnership with cotton recycler Recover

The clothing retailer C&A and the Spanish recycling specialist Recover announced a partnership on Tuesday with which they want to advance the circular economy in the textile industry. The aim of the collaboration, which is initially planned for four years, is to make recycled cotton the “core component of a more sustainable fashion industry”, both companies announced in a joint statement. Cotton recycled using the process developed by Recover is to be used for the first time in a collection of C&A’s own brand Clockhouse in April.

Recover will “integrate its fibers into C&A’s supply chain structure and provide technical support to spinners and weavers to optimize yarns and fabrics,” according to a statement. “Because C&A is one of the leading retailers in Europe, the company brings the necessary demand to make a lasting impact on the industry.”

Aleix Busquets Gonzalez, who as Director Global Sustainability is responsible for C&A’s sustainability projects, explained the reasons for the partnership: “More sustainable fashion shouldn’t be a niche product,” he emphasized. “Our collaboration with Recover is a milestone in our journey towards a more sustainable future, characterized by high quality clothing available at affordable prices.” The collaboration accelerates the retailer’s efforts to implement its sustainability strategy for the The company explained that it would implement the period up to 2028.
