As his family announced, our former editor-in-chief died last Monday in Hamburg after a short, serious illness at the age of 81.

Kryszohn had been writing for the “Hamburger Abendblatt” since 1968 and ten years later, at the age of just 36, he was appointed editor-in-chief of the “Berliner Morgenpost” by Axel Springer.

Wolfgang Kryszohn sharpened the profile of the “Morgenpost” for three years, and then new tasks beckoned. For example, he was the editor-in-chief of “Bild am Sonntag”, which he shared with Willi Schmitt from 1984 to 1987. He was also editor-in-chief of the “Kieler Nachrichten” from 1988 to 1990.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Wolfgang Kryszohn became editor-in-chief at BILD New Federal States/Berlin in 1991 and editor-in-chief of BZ and BZ AM SONNTAG in 1992. He held this position until 1996, when he became the editor of the BZ – and also of the “Berliner Morgenpost”.

After his time at Axel Springer, Kryszohn worked as a media consultant and freelance journalist. The BZ will honor the memory of the deceased.
