The driver of a car drove into the water this morning near Schoonebeek, near the Dutch-German border. Bystanders came to her aid, waiting for the emergency services to arrive.
The incident happened around 7:40 am on Wilmsbrugweg. The car, with a German license plate, ended up overturned in the water. After two bystanders assisted the victim, the woman was able to get to shore with the help of fire brigade divers.
The driver was picked up by ambulance staff and then taken to hospital.
