BVB wants to extend with a strong national player

At BVB, Julian Brandt is one of the faces of the upswing. Apparently, the club wants to reward the positive development of the national player in the near future.

Since arriving at Borussia Dortmund, Julian Brandt has had to put up with a lot of criticism. But in the meantime, the mature creative mind has become an integral part of the Westphalian starting XI.

With BVB, the 26-year-old meets Chelsea on Wednesday evening (9 p.m. / DAZN) in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. And while the opponent is in crisis, Brandt is in the form of his life.

“Jule has developed extremely this season. He’s one of our most consistent players,” enthused coach Edin Terzic about the former problem child.

Six goals and four assists in 20 league games speak for themselves. The offensive has never been his problem – but the artist Brandt often lacked the necessary passion and attitude.

In the meantime, however, the all-rounder is “much more stable, robust and present,” sports director Sebastian Kehl has recognized. Brandt sometimes sprints back into his own half and straddles the center line.

“There wasn’t one day when I woke up and thought: Now I’ve taken a step forward,” the noble technician clarified.

Rather, it was a process – and Brandt suddenly became a leader. He takes responsibility on and off the pitch. “You can tell that he wants to go ahead,” emphasized Terzic.

A circumstance that the club wants to honor with an extension of the working paper, which expires in 2024, according to “Sport1” information. It is said that BVB has already sent “first signals” to Brandt.

Even more: Club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke is said to have “personally intervened” to tell the offensive man, who came from Leverkusen in 2019 for 25 million euros, of the enormous appreciation of Borussia.

However, it is not known how the in-form national player plans his future.
