Veteran Mats Hummels became the record winner on Saturday in the 181st district derby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 (1-0).
The BVB centre-back has now won ten of his 21 derbies, catching up with long-time Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.
The path to becoming a record player is not far either: in the Bundesliga era, no one played more derbies than Schalke idol Klaus Fichtel and former BVB goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller (24 each). Schalke had a starting XI on Saturday without any derby experience.
The overall record speaks for the Royal Blues after a total of 181 games: 69 wins face 47 draws and 65 defeats, the goal difference is 337:286.
