Borussia Dortmund will have to do without three important players in the Bundesliga duel against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday (3:30 p.m.).
Erling Haaland, Mats Hummels and Emre Can are “not all in team training yet, it will be more than tight,” said coach Marco Rose on Friday: “It is not to be expected that one of the three will be added on Saturday. Mats maybe, him has already ridden a bicycle.”
Donyell Malen will therefore be particularly challenged in attack. “He’s getting better and better at focusing on his tasks, his development is good. But he has to want more,” said Rose, who reported on “two really good weeks of training overall”. Gio Reyna is back to the coach’s delight: “I’m happy.”
Rose expects to be put to the test at a high level by Bayer. “We have to be careful that it doesn’t get too big,” said Rose. “I’m expecting a top game that we obviously want to win in the end. I’ll share the battle plan with the team on Saturday.”
