BVB threatens another setback after clapping at Bayern

Borussia Dortmund is still worried about Nico Schlotterback after the 2: 4 swatter at FC Bayern on Saturday. The diagnosis of the ailing BVB professional is a long time coming.

On Sunday there is still uncertainty at Borussia Dortmund’s central defender Nico Schlotterbeck.

As the “Ruhr Nachrichten” reports, the 23-year-old international was admitted after returning from BVB’s top game against FC Bayern in Munich by team doctor Dr. Markus Braun examined. However, the diagnosis will not follow until Monday, it is said.

Schlotterbeck had to leave the pitch shortly before the break due to a muscle injury in a duel with the German record champions. “It’s clear that Nico can’t be substituted in the 42nd minute if he doesn’t have anything. It’s the same thigh as the national team,” said sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Schlotterbeck’s injury is therefore “incredibly bitter”, added the long-time BVB captain.

Mats Hummels took his place in the center of defense against FC Bayern. The veteran “did his job very well”, praised Kehl.

BVB may face a race against time

In the Schlotterbeck cause, the Dortmunders are now threatened with a race against time. The next big thing is already on Wednesday: the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup away against defending champions RB Leipzig.

In Munich, BVB had shown a desolate performance over long stretches. FC Bayern took the lead early thanks to an own goal by goalkeeper Gregor Kobel (13′). Then Thomas Müller (18th/23rd) and Kingsley Coman (51st) scored for the hosts.

Emre Can (72nd/penalty) and Donyell Malen (90th) only ensured the cosmetic result from Dortmund’s point of view.

RB Leipzig is not exactly going into the cup duel with BVB with a lot of confidence. The team of former BVB coach Marco Rose suffered a 0-3 home defeat against FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday.
