BVB talent Brunner flirts with the Italian club

With eleven goals in eleven appearances in the U19 Bundesliga, Paris Brunner once again underlined the outstanding role he plays in Borussia Dortmund’s youth team in 2023/24. At BVB they have been working on retaining the youngster for longer – but poker is apparently proving difficult.

The last few months have been like a rollercoaster ride for Paris Brunner: The BVB youngster was temporarily suspended by the club due to misconduct, was pardoned, won the U17 World Cup with the DFB youth team, received the gold Fritz Walter Medal and made a difference at the BVB winter training camp in Marbella again for being asked to report.

The next few months in the 17-year-old offensive player’s career are likely to be exciting, as discussions about the attacker’s future are currently in full swing.

BVB has long made it clear that, despite all the past quarrels, they are firmly planning with Brunner. On February 15th, when Brunner celebrates his 18th birthday, a professional contract will probably be on the table.

This is suggested by words that Dortmund’s youth boss Lars Ricken chose to tell the “Ruhr Nachrichten”: “Of course we are no longer talking about a funding agreement with Paris. We have a clear plan with him. We have discussed it with him and his family. It’s clear “That with his quality he will become an issue for the professional sector,” said Ricken at the end of 2023.

BVB in “constant” exchange with Brunner

However, the competition shouldn’t sleep either. According to “Sport Bild”, Brunner’s father Norbert, who represents his son in the negotiations, has already traveled to Italy to talk to a first division team about a possible transfer.

The crux of the matter should once again be money. The 500,000 euros annual salary that young professionals normally receive is not enough for the Brunners. According to the report, they are demanding “very high payments.”

However, an agreement is still within the realm of possibility. Kehl is in “constant” communication with Brunner’s representatives. The last conversation is said to have taken place recently.

Brunner’s current working paper at BVB ends in 2025.
