BVB star Niclas Füllkrug sounds like PSG’s big hit in the Champions League

After moving from Werder Bremen to BVB, Niclas Füllkrug is about to make his first appearance in the Champions League. The 30-year-old could even start playing for Borussia Dortmund against PSG (Tuesday, 9:00 p.m.) after recovering from a muscle injury. Beforehand he was extremely self-confident.

BVB has by far the toughest group in this year’s edition of the Champions League. The first game is against Paris Saint-Germain, followed by games against AC Milan and Newcastle United.

“It’s my first time in the Champions League and I couldn’t have chosen it better. I’m playing away from home in three top stadiums and we have three incredibly strong home games. The draw is great,” said BVB newcomer Füllkrug, commenting on the situation.

The German international, who missed the last international matches due to a muscle injury and was only substituted on against SC Freiburg, is traveling to France with a big chest: “I believe that anything is possible. I don’t see any team as unbeatable. Of course it is strongest group, the most balanced, but first I want to see that they all perform in front of the Yellow Wall the way they imagine.”

BVB attacker Niclas Füllkrug: “I’m totally confident”

BVB also has “a very good team” that “always works very well, especially in these games. I am totally confident about playing these games with this team.” Nevertheless, you have to get “close to 100 percent” of your performance against PSG.

On Monday, the 30-year-old made his way to Paris with his teammates. The final training session will probably decide whether head coach Edin Terzic will start him on Tuesday evening.

“We have several options on the nine. The coach will make the right decision,” emphasized sports director Sebastian Kehl before departure. After his substitution against Freiburg, Niclas Füllkrug significantly invigorated the BVB game; regular Sébastien Haller could face a place on the bench due to continued poor form.
