Marin Pongracic qualified for the Champions League with VfL Wolfsburg last season. However, the defender who was loaned to BVB did not receive a performance bonus. Now he wants to go to court.
Borussia Dortmund defender Marin Pongracic is suing VfL Wolfsburg for unpaid bonuses. This is reported by the “Sports buzzer”. Accordingly, the 24-year-old Croatian international is demanding 250,000 euros from the wolves. The sum should be a contractually guaranteed success bonus.
Schmadtke: “From our understanding of the law, the situation is clear”
Pongracic was part of the Vfl team that qualified for the Champions League after coming fourth in the Bundesliga last season. Due to internal quarrels, the native of Landhut left Wolfsburg in the summer and went on loan to BVB. Apparently for this reason, the Lower Saxony do not feel obliged to pay Pongracic the bonus.
“From our legal understanding, the situation is clear,” said Wolfsburg manager Jörg Schmadtke to “Sportbuzzer”. Pongracic sees things differently and takes the case to court. Hearings will be held at the Braunschweig Labor Court at the beginning of March.
Pongracic’s contract in Wolfsburg runs until the summer of 2024. It is hard to imagine that the defensive specialist, who came from Salzburg for nine million euros in 2020, will ever play for VfL again after his loan in Dortmund.
