During his time at Borussia Dortmund, Marin Pongracic caused a stir with his behavior off the field. Now there is again a fuss about the defender. According to a media report, the BVB professional is to sue his parent club VfL Wolfsburg.
In terms of sport, Marin Pongracic is hardly making headlines at the moment, but the central defender always causes a stir due to other topics. Now apparently a legal dispute between the 24-year-old and VfL Wolfsburg is looming.
Again “sports buzzerreported, Pongracic is suing Lower Saxony for 250,000 euros. The case is scheduled to be heard at the labor court in Braunschweig at the beginning of March. The point of contention is allegedly a performance-related bonus.
Last season, VfL Wolfsburg reached the Champions League. Pongracic, who is currently on loan to BVB, was in the Lower Saxony squad at the time. By qualifying for the premier class, Wolfsburg paid out additional money to the players.
“From our understanding of the law, the situation is clear”
But apparently VfL and Pongracic have different views on the calculation. According to the “Sportbuzzer”, the defensive player subsequently demands 250,000 euros from the club. The scheduled date in court is a conciliation date, it is said.
“From our legal understanding, the situation is clear,” said Wolfsburg’s sports director Jörg Schmadtke to the portal. Apparently, the Bundesliga club is certain that Pongracic will waive any rights by suspending his contract with VfL. Now the situation has to be examined legally.
Pongracic is on loan from VfL Wolfsburg to BVB until the end of the season. But the central defender has not been able to assert himself in Dortmund so far. Instead, Pongracic caused a stir last fall when he divulged internal details via the Twitch streaming portal.
