FC Bayern is one point ahead of BVB in the final sprint for the championship title in the Bundesliga. Three games before the end of the season, Borussia Dortmund must therefore hope for a slip of the competitor from Munich. Emre Can has now revealed how he sees the chance of winning the first championship title since the 2011/12 season.
Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Augsburg and FSV Mainz 05: That is BVB’s quite challenging remaining program. In order for the Schwaz-Yellows to be able to hold the championship trophy in their own hands again after more than ten years of waiting, three wins from the last three games are needed.
But since FC Bayern is going into the Bundesliga final sprint with a one-point lead, BVB needs a slip-up from their rival from the Bavarian capital at the same time. Emre Can is nevertheless convinced that Dortmund still have a chance of winning the ninth championship title in the club’s history.
BVB: Emre Can believes in championship
“There are still nine points to be won. I think we can still do it. We believe in it in the team. A lot is still possible,” said the 29-year-old on “Brinkhoff’s Ballgeflüster” on Monday.
Nevertheless, the German national player is well aware of the situation at the top of the table, he emphasized. “It’s going to be difficult. We have to win the three remaining games first, but so must Bayern,” added the midfield clearer.
With the 6-0 gala against VfL Wolfsburg, BVB gained additional self-confidence, Can made clear: “That was important. That was a statement, you can say that. I think we were very good. It was a very important win. With the fans here in Dortmund we are very difficult to beat.
Even before the game he had a good feeling, Can revealed with a smile on his face. “Personally, I said we’re going to get rid of them,” he revealed.
