BVB: Kehl sees “a lot of need for discussion” – most goals conceded since 2008

Rose praises Bynoe-Gittens

From the point of view of the table, Borussia Dortmund’s 4-3 defeat against the was bearable, the advantage over them even before the day of the match was too big. Nevertheless, the frustration of the fans after the derby defeat on Saturday erupted when Marco Rose’s team crept in front of the south stand after the final whistle. Sebastian Kehl, head of BVB’s licensed player department, then understood the whistles and announced talks with the coach.

“It was now three home games in front of a full house. We lost two of them, against Leipzig and Bochum. We have to accept and endure such a reaction from the fans as on Saturday,” said the 42-year-old “Ruhr News”. “The reaction is justified – and we are talking about a derby. There’s only one of those this season. Especially in a game like this, our fans can expect us to be there 100 percent. And we weren’t.”

Especially the defensive of the black and yellow once again made an uncertain impression and conceded goals number 47 to 50 in the current season. Most recently, BVB had to get the ball out of the net more often in the 2007/08 season when they only managed 13th place under Thomas Doll. That’s not the only reason Kehl announced a meeting with Rose on Sunday: “There’s a lot to talk about. Overall, we’ve suffered too many defeats this season. Changing that is something everyone at BVB is called upon to do.”

Rose sees defensive at BVB as a “core issue” – praise for talent Bynoe-Gittens

Rose himself was also aware of the problems on the defensive after the game and described them as a “core issue” at the press conference. On the other hand, the 45-year-old also found praise for the offensive and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in particular. The 17-year-old, who came on as a substitute against VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern, celebrated his debut in the starting XI. “He shows a few things that we lack, that we don’t even have in our squad. A really good one-on-one on the wing with speed, but after 60 minutes he got tired at some point. He probably still has to get used to the high pace. So I think he did it very neatly. A very good game,” said Rose.
