BVB just an intermediate step for Adeyemi? ‘Will eventually end up in the Premier League’

With Karim Adeyemi, BVB has signed one of its dream players. The national player can and should take the often quoted “next step” in Dortmund. However, it will not be much more, believes its discoverer.

The transfer to BVB is only an “intermediate step” for Karim Adeyemi, believes the former discoverer and sponsor of the national player, Manfred Schwabl. He is convinced that sooner or later Adeyemi will “land in the Premier League”, Schwabl speculated in an interview with “sky“.

Before that, however, BVB can look forward to a player who has that certain extra. “What’s special about him is that if he misses three times or misses a penalty, he goes back. He wants it until it works,” said Schwabl: “The greats are made of that stuff.”

Schwabl: Adeyemi at BVB no Haaland legacy

The ex-professional does not believe that Adeyemi will follow in Erling Haaland’s footsteps in Dortmund. The way the two youngsters play is simply too different for that: “I think they [der BVB] will get another anchor striker. Karim comes more from the depths. Once he gets going, he’s almost unstoppable.”

Schwabl is convinced that although the new signing in Dortmund can’t do it alone, he fits in “like the famous fist in the eye” with the black and yellow. The change to the black and yellow “was the absolutely right decision”.

If Adeyemi develops as hoped, the first Premier League clubs will knock on the door in a few years, says Schwabl: “Liverpool and Manchester United are clubs that are hungry for players like that.” The 20-year-old is already predestined for the English league in terms of the way he plays football, his speed and his desire to score, said the man who discovered the national player.
