The best example of why a salary cap is finally needed. Teams like City, Real & Co. know no limits when it comes to salaries. Dissatisfaction on the bench is probably also acceptable with the top salaries, and if it does happen (e.g. Cancelo), then the player is simply handed over. At least 2-3 players with similar potential are waiting behind them.
It’s a shame that the top players only stay in Dortmund for a short time, just imagine the talents fulfilling their contracts like in the NFL, for example, or really only leaving if BVB decides to do so. BVB would have a squad with Haaland, Sancho, Bellingham & Co. Yes, then a CL or Bundesliga title would be possible. So it’s primarily about how you can earn as much money as possible, the sporting thing comes second and that’s a shame for the competition, but even as a fan it would really annoy me. In the current system, however, nothing else is possible.
You can’t really compare the US sport system with (European) football, as there are completely different conditions.
But to take up the example: Under the circumstances, players like Haaland or Bellingham wouldn’t even play for BVB or how do you think they switched to BVB? Without fee? Without a higher salary offer
Comparison to previous employer?
Would the two have signed a contract with the league?
But Sancho would also be unrealistic, or is poaching youth players the same as a college scholarship? But even then Sancho would have ended up in a draft at some point and you should have been lucky that he wasn’t picked beforehand.
In general, the question then arises, an NFL system for Germany? Europe? Or is it the whole world? The more participants, the more complicated it gets.
If you only want to take up the point of “fulfilling the contract”, in the sense of transfers are prohibited (because there would be no other way, transfers are only allowed with valid contracts anyway if the releasing club agrees. Exactly what you are asking for .) do you think the players would then sign for another 4-5 years? With salaries? They can’t be compared to those of the NFL, or does BVB then offer 135 million for 5 years?
It all sounds nice, but the other side of the coin is hardly considered. I can’t just pick the raisins and say “it would be nice” and “everything is so mean”.
